In a major setback to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, party leader Ram Kripal Yadav on Saturday resigned from all the party posts.
"I have resigned from all the party posts. I am very grateful to all the party workers and the people of Patna for their respect," Ram Kripal told media here.
"I think, the party is deviating from its principles. It does not believe in the social justice. It believes family justice," he added.
He also termed the visit of Lalu's daughter Misa Bharti, who was nominated from the seat of Patliputra which was earlier represented by Ram Kripal, as 'emotional attayachaar' and said it was a publicity stunt from the RJD.
"I come from a very poor family. Even today, I still don't have a proper house. I worked for people with full honesty. I never had any ambitions. I just worked for the RJD tirelessly. In 2010, I was made a member of Rajya Sabha. I am very grateful for this to the party," he added.
"I have worked a lot for this party. I have shed blood and sweat for the RJD. I provided support to the party when it was going through a bad phase. I got respect from the party. I have never changed sides in my career," he said.
