Asserting that the seven months rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre is no match to his 49-day governance in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said even the BJP leaders believe that his party had done a commendable job.
Kejriwal, who was in Bangalore to raise funds for his party for the upcoming assembly polls, said the AAP has done a lot of things in Delhi during the 49 days in power.
"The Municipal Corporation of Delhi is under the BJP. In the last two to three months, there was a meeting of the BJP councillors in which they discussed that Kejriwal-led government had curbed corruption in 49 days of power and why they could not do the same," he added.
Highlighting the speeches made by BJP leaders including Prime Minister Modi at their party's rally at Ramlila Maidan yesterday, the former Delhi chief minister said even they acknowledged that his government had done a splendid work in the national capital.
"Even the BJP leaders believe that we did a commendable job during the 49-day rule in Delhi. In the speeches that you heard yesterday of the BJP leaders, they have said two to three things. First, no leader criticised our work, they said Kejriwal is an absconder, Kejriwal is a Naxalite," said Kejriwal.
"But they did not say a single sentence about the 49 days. It means the BJP also believes that those 49 days were really good," he added while asserting that the BJP leaders were not able to point out any deficiency in the AAP-led government.
Taking a jibe at the Jan Dhan Yojana launched by the Centre, Kejriwal said 19.5 lakh bank accounts have been opened so far but the fact is that there is not a single penny with the poor.
"In their speeches, the BJP leaders just highlighted the achievements; they spoke about the opening of bank accounts. 19.5 lakh bank accounts have been opened but there is not a single penny with the poor," he said.
Kejriwal said that he had come to Bangalore to raise funds for his party and questioned the BJP and Congress as to from where did they get the funds to contest the polls.
Asserting that three Cs: character, crime and corruption are important for his party, Kejriwal said the AAP allots tickets based on the above observations.
Delhi has been under President's rule since February after the Kejriwal-led AAP government stepped down after 49 days in power.
