According to reports, one of them has been recaptured.
The prisoners, facing serious charges, fled after stabbing two security guards.
Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta said an investigation has been ordered into the incident.
"Seven of them fled, one has been caught .We will catch the rest very soon. There is no doubt that was negligence in the security. Action will be taken as to why this incident took place," he added.
