Seven SIMI members escape from MP's Khandwa Jail

In a major embarrassment for prison authorities, seven jailed members of terror outfit Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) escaped from Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa Jail this morning.

According to reports, one of them has been recaptured.

The prisoners, facing serious charges, fled after stabbing two security guards.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta said an investigation has been ordered into the incident.

"Seven of them fled, one has been caught .We will catch the rest very soon. There is no doubt that was negligence in the security. Action will be taken as to why this incident took place," he added.

A high alert has been declared Khandwa and Indore. Further details are awaited.
