Inspector General, Border Security Force (BSF) D.K. Upadhyaya on Wednesday said the BSF has retaliated very accurately to ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
"The BSF retaliation was very accurate and measured. Our accurate and co-ordinate firing on various posts has resulted in very heavy damage to a number of their posts," said Upadhyaya.
He further said that the BSF only targets militants and is very particular and sincere about safeguarding human rights.
"We are fully prepared to give a befitting reply to any such attempt and we have already failed number of infiltration attempts by the terrorists trying to get into the Indian side," he said.
Upadhyaya however, declined to comment on the number of injured on the Pakistan side, but said certainly the number of causalities are very high.
The BSF on Tuesday targeted around 14 Pakistan posts along the International Border (IB) in response to the unprovoked firing and shelling of Pakistan Rangers in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramgarh and Arnia Sector.

Earlier, a 19 year old girl was killed and three civilians were injured after the Pakistan troops violated the ceasefire in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistani forces started unprovoked shelling targeting posts as well as civilian areas in Ramgarh and Arnia areas at around 6 a.m.
On Monday, an army soldier and a woman were killed as the Pakistani troops resorted to heavy mortar shelling along the LoC in Rajouri and Mendhar sectors.
Nearly half a dozen people and four BSF soldiers have been killed so far and over 30 others injured in the recent skirmishes along the international border.
