Condemning the recent terror strike in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the Shahi Imam of the Tipu Sultan mosque in Kolkata, Noorul Rahman Barkati on Thursday said that there is a need to fight terrorism in a united manner.
He said, "Quran and Islam, both condemn terrorism and the killing of people, and terrorists are worst than animals. We need to unite together against it in the same way as we fight back our foreign enemies."
He added, "The terrorists have defamed all Islamic countries by spreading a wrong message of Islam. Their motive is to disrupt Indian policies and disturb communal harmony across the world, and I wonder, from where they are getting funds for such operations?"
The Shahi Imam said, "India has huge respect in Saudi Arabia as we helped them during their bad times. Similarly, India should approach them for help against terrorism."
Barkati also said he had met Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and requested her to condemn the attack and take strong action against terrorists in the country.
The Dhaka terror attack left 28 people dead, including 20 hostages, most of whom were killed with the help of sharp weapons. The attack was condemned by the world.
