Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shahnawaz Hussain here on Sunday questioned why no action had been taken against All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) leader Tapas Pal for his anti-women remark.

Criticising Pal over his statement, Hussain said that when a lawmaker becomes the law breaker and no action is taken against him, it is condemnable.

"Tapas pal case is not a matter of party but of law, threatening of murder and rape is against law. When a lawmaker becomes a lawbreaker and no investigation is carried out on him, such a situation has never been seen anywhere. It's sad that not only Tapas but many of his workers are speaking this language and the people of Bengal are scared of it.

Pal invited widespread condemnation after he was caught on camera threatening to send his men to the home of Communist Party of India (Maoist) (CPI-M) leaders rape their women.

The Trinamool Congress had subsequently sought a written explanation from Pal and had later 'forgiven' him on July 2 after he tendered an unconditional apology.
