Switzerland advanced to the last 16 stage of the 2014 World Cup, tied up against Argentina, with a 3-0 win over Honduras, thanks to a hattrick from Bayern Munich's Xherdan Shaqiri.
Shaqiri netted the ball in the 6th minute to provide an early lead to Switzerland before he converted Josip Drmic's passes twice to take the score to 3-0.
According to the BBC, Honduras finished bottom of Group E with three defeats from three matches and their result led to their coach Luis Fernando Suarez resigning immediately after the game, saying that a change was necessary for the benefit of the Honduran team.
Shaqiri, who plays as a striker for Switzerland, said that he wanted to show that they could play soccer and that is what they did, adding that he played very well and is happy about that and proud of the team.
