Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova, who made her comeback after 15-months of doping ban, registered her second win on Thursday by beating Roberta Vinci to reach the quarter-finals of the Porsche Grand Prix in Stuttgart.
The 30-year-old's swift and dominating play helped her secure 7-5, 6-1 win in just one hour and 20 minutes, in the second-round.
"Being the second match and playing yesterday and getting all the emotions out, I feel I settled down a little bit today and I was able to focus on my game. I executed a great plan," she said after the match.
Describing her win as special, Sharapova said, "Practice is so different. You can prepare the best you can and when go out you just have to trust it. It was definitely great to come out and play matches and being in the quarter-finals here again is quite special."
Sharapova received a wild card for the tournament after having lost all her ranking points in the wake of her suspension.
The Russian has been invited to play in Madrid and Rome.
