The ruling Nawaz Sharif government is under scrutiny again for appointing two lawyers close to former President and retired army chief General Pervez Musharraf to two top posts within the government's legal team, a report said.

On the advice of the Prime Minister, President Mamnoon Hussain approved the appointments of advocates Waqar Rana and Asim Mansoor Khan to the position of additional attorney general and deputy attorney general, respectively, reported the Dawn.

While Rana's post is a grade 21 position, Khan's slot falls under grade 20.

The former has represented Musharraf in 2007 in the petition filed by former Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, who stood deposed at the time.
