Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will raise the Kashmir issue at the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) today.

According to The Dawn, Sharif's speech will focus on the elimination of terrorism, economic cooperation and Pakistan's opposition of expansion of the membership of the United Nations Security Council.

Sharif raised the issue of having a plebiscite in Kashmir during his talks with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, and also demanded implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.

It is expected that he will also mention incidents of border violence and tension along the Line of Control that separates Pakistan and India in Kashmir.
