Former CEO of 9X Media, Indrani Mukerjee's second husband Sanjeev Khanna was produced in Alipore court on Thursday, a day after the Mumbai police confirmed him as the third accused in the Sheena Bora murder case.
Sanjeev Khanna's lawyer Salim Rehman while speaking to media admitted that his client was in Mumbai on April 24, 2012, to meet his daughter.
"My client (Sanjeev Khanna) had left for Mumbai on April 24, 2012 and came back on April 25. My client is not aware of the incident which the prosecution is arguing," Rehman said.
"The police is not carrying the complete C.D. so I argued for his bail. There is a law that if the police is not carrying C.D. then bail should be granted," Rehman told ANI.
43-year-old Indrani, wife of former CEO of Star India, Peter Mukherjea was arrested from her Mumbai residence on Monday after her driver confessed that he had killed Indrani's daughter Sheena in 2012, following his employer's orders.
Indrani, who was charged for murdering her daughter and disposing off her body, will stay in police custody till August 31.
