Nanital District Magistrate (DM) Deepak Rawat has assured that the investigation in the death of Nepalese Sherwood student Shaan Prajapati is still on and strict action will be taken after its completion.

"The child fell sick and was taken to a hospital in Noida where he passed away. An FIR has been registered. Investigation is going on, action will be taken once the investigation is complete," Rawat told ANI on Wednesday.

Shaan, who was a student of class ninth in Sherwood school of Nainital, had died of septicemia at a private hospital in Noida on November 14.

His mother Neena alleged that her son had passed away due to the school's negligence.

She had also put forward a request to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently in Nepal to attend the 18thSAARC Summit, to look into the matter of her son's death.

"I would like the Indian Government to look into this matter, to seek a fair, transparent inquiry into this matter because there are a lot of ambiguities relating to my son's death. Although I have filed an FIR, I want the Indian government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi to look into this matter so that true facts come out," Neena had said.

Shaan's mother and Uncle Ujjwal Thapa, who was a former Sherwood student, had also reportedly met Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koirala.
