Shia LaBeouf will soon be playing tennis rebel John McEnroe in a new flick about his rivalry with the Swedish star Bjorn Borg.
According to the Swedish producers Film Vaest's announcement at the Cannes film festival, the film titled 'Borg/McEnroe' will follow the two player's epic battles on and off the court through the 1970s and 1980s, reports Channel 24.
While speaking to the reporters at Cannes, the 29-year-old actor admitted that until he was cast in the film, he had no interest in tennis. It was rather the love-hate relationship between the two men that fascinated him.
LaBeouf added that he has now begun lessons.
The producers even said actor Sverrir Gudnason will play the "Swedish iceman" Borg with Stellan Skarsgard as his influential coach Lennart Bergelin.
The film will go on floors in autumn in Sweden, London, Monaco and New York.
