Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant on Monday said he was proud of the protest held at the headquarters of the BCCI, and there was no reason to regret it.

The Shiv Sainiks had entered the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) office to protest against a pre-scheduled meeting of the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shahryar Khan and BCCI president Shashank Manohar to discuss modalities for the proposed India-Pakistan bilateral series slated for December.

"Why regret? What have we done? We have displayed placards, we have asked not to conduct the meeting. Is it not a democratic country? I am proud of what Shiv Sainiks did. This is what exactly Balasaheb would have wanted," Sawant told ANI.

"Everyday Pakistani have been firing along the borders, Jawans are being killed, beheaded by Pakistanis. Extremist activities are going on. Why do we need to talk cricket with them?" he added.

Following Shiv Sena's protest at the BCCI Headquarters, the discussion over reviving cricket ties between the two nations has been cancelled.
