Shopian encounter in Jammu and Kashmir ends

A joint operation between the Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, which was launched against militants last night in Chilli Pora village, Shopian district, has come to an end.

The militants have, reportedly, escaped.

The gunfight started after security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation after it received information about the presence of terrorists.

Recently, three soldiers were killed in Shopian when militants attacked three vehicles.
