Shraddha Kapoor came all the way to New Delhi in support Whisper's 'Touch the pickle campaign' where she got candid with us.

Speaking exclusively to ANI at the event, Shraddha said she was proud to be associated with the campaign which is trying to break period taboos among Indian women.

According to reports, about 75 percent of the women still shy away from buying sanitary pads, 40 percent of women stay at home during 'that time of the month' and 65 percent don't wash their hair.

"I was extremely shocked to tell you the truth; the statistic number was very high. And, to know that 70 per cent of women don't lead their lives the way they really want to because of its period taboos is really disheartening."

"Because, when you think of how many dreams are being compromised and how many women are really not living the lives the way they do, and to live under the taboos such as you can't go to the kitchen, you can't touch the pickle, you can't wear white, you can't do any physical activity, so, all such period tattoos have a really bad effect on ladies," added Shraddha.

On the occasion Whisper, a leading fem care brand pledged to educate 15 million girls about the menstruation cycle by 2017, and break the various taboos prevailing in Indian society. (ANI)
