Sikh bodies to pay tribute to ' their martyrs' on Operation Blue Star anniversary

Various representatives of Sikh bodies are expected to assemble at the Golden Temple here on Friday to pay tribute to those killed during "Operation Blue Star" in the month of June 1984.

Meanwhile, the All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) has demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledge that the then government had been wrong in ordering the Indian Army to launch a military operation on the Golden Temple to flush out armed followers led by Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale.

The AISSF asked Sukhbir Singh Badal to issue a whip to the Shiromani Akali Dal's (SAD) newly-elected

MPs to move a resolution in parliament on June 6 to condemn the army operation.
