A young Sikh in Auckland helped an injured child by using his turban to cradle his head, breaking all the protocols.
22-year-old Harman Singh was one of the first at the scene, after a five-year-old was hit by a car while walking to school, Stuff.co.nz reported.
Talking about the incident, Singh said that he didn't think twice about removing his Siropao (turban) to help the child, who was bleeding from the head.
It was his job to help and religious protocols did not restrict his action in an emergency, he added.
Gagan Dhillon, a fellow Sikh who was also present at the scene, posted a picture of Singh on Facebook after seeing enough help was already on hand, with a caption, "So proud of this young Sikh man who helped at a crash this morning where a child was hit by a car."
A four wheeler has run into the kid when he was walking to school with his older sister. The injuries were at first thought to be life threatening, but later the child became stable.
Police at the scene said that the serious crash unit was investigating the accident.
