Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the ongoing controversies surrounding former IPL boss Lalit Modi and the Vyapam scam, saying that he must now talk about the commitment and promises made to the nation before the Lok Sabha polls.
"He is accountable to the people of United States, people of Australia, China, Japan or Mongolia may be. But he needs to realize that he is not the Prime Minister of Mongolia, he is the Prime Minister of India. And the Indian people are asking him- you promised and committed us something," said Gandhi.
The Congress vice-president said the farmers and laborers are now feeling that the government is not theirs.
"The poor people are feeling that the government is not theirs. One promise after the other is made. We are going to be the manufacturing hub, we are going to be the IT hub. We are tired of all these new ideas. Please implement one idea. Let us see what you are capable of doing. Take one thing, take action and show the people of India what you can do, because the people of India are not able to see it," he said.
Gandhi, who reached out to the farmers during his 'padyatra' here, said that Prime Minister Modi is accountable to the people of this country for the promises made to them.
