Silent support for U.S. drone strikes in Pak tribal regions

ANI Islamabad

A sizeable number of Pakistani people reportedly support the U.S. drone attacks, despite the government repeatedly denouncing the air attacks for violating its sovereignty.

According to the Daily Times report, the tribal heads of the Fata region of Pakistan think that the deadly missiles were the preferred solution to the problem of militancy.

However, they are terrified to speak out due to the threat of Taliban reprisals.

Anyone who speaks out in favor of the drone attacks in the tribal areas, runs a risk of being kidnapped, tortured and murdered by the militants and the worst of all, these agonizing last moments are captured on camera to threaten others.

The North Waziristan area is the most affected by the U.S. drone strikes, but the residents of the area believe that military intervention has never been a solution to the problem because the army doesn't kill militants, but civilians, the report added.
