Social activist Pramila Nesargi on Monday welcomed the move of the Khap Panchayat of 'no third child after the birth of two daughters and Rs. 1 to be taken from by the groom as dowry' saying Khap panachayats across the nation should take similar action and help women to exist in the society.

I am extremely happy about it. At last the wisdom has dawn in the Khap Panchayat. If only they run in this direction they can modulate the society and they can eradicate the sins which are existence in the society especially the dowry...as people follow Khap Panchayat it will have a long way and will definitely help the society. Similarly I hope they revise their own resolution which they have done earlier. All the Khap panachayats across the nation should take similar action and help women to exist in the society," Nesargi told ANI here.

She further added that if they (Khap) want to preserve the custom, let them do with one rupee as it doesn't matter but calling it a dowry is bad.
