Simon Cowell will reportedly be making a comeback on 'The X Factor' in 2014 after the US version, 'X Factor USA', flopped.

The third series of the show garnered just 6.2million viewers in the first week of its launch, which are the lowest ratings that the show has ever had in the States, the Daily star reported.

TV critics have called the new judging panel, including Cowell and Kelly Rowland, "boring and predictable".

With Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and Gary Barlow all set to leave at the end of 2013, it's likely that Cowell will return to the UK where he is loved, a source told the publication.
