Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje have signed joint water management agreements here.
The Ministers were present during the signing between the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) set up by the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, and the Public Health Engineering Department of the Government of Rajasthan yesterday.
The agreements that were signed included water management and governance of waste water treatment, which is expected to help the desert state to achieve a sustainable water management system.
"Our big problem is always human resource; the number of people we can put across, we are a very small place and we have to prioritise. But we decided that Rajasthan under your leadership is the place that efforts can be put in because there is a clear vision and a dynamism. It is not so much money because the way we see it, most of these projects build capacity and build a series of development for the partner," said Shanmugam.
Meanwhile, Raje hoped for the programme to help strengthen ties between the two countries.
"I really believe that Rajasthan and Singapore can do big things together and create a partnership that will not only be beneficial to the economy of Rajasthan but also work for a great people-to-people tie up with yourselves," she said.
Shanmugam is presently on a four-day visit to India and Sri Lanka to enhance bilateral ties.
