Security and strategic analyst C Uday Bhaskar on Monday said that the current situation in Pakistan is a cause for grave concern.
Bhaskar said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan could not have reached this far without the support of the Pakistani army.
"The developments that have occurred in Pakistan in the last 48 hours are a cause for great concern. Much of the violence and the protest that we have seen have been led by a senior political leader of Pakistan," Bhaskar told ANI here.
"I think that most people in Pakistan would be angry because whatever little progress was made towards consolidating democracy in the last one year has been wasted and instead of it there has been a severe setback," he added.
Taking a dig at the Pakistani government, Bhaskar said, "Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other political leaders of Pakistan were not able to control Imran Khan's fervor. The fact is that the support for the Imran Khan is not in millions or lakhs, it is merely in thousands and yet he has been able to pose this challenge."

On Saturday, the anti-government protests took a violent turn when protesters clashed with police in Islamabad, as they marched to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's residence, demanding his resignation. Reports state that hundreds have been left injured as the police has resorted to using tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the crowds.
