Six Shiv Sena workers, accused of smearing black ink on the chairman of the Mumbai unit of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), Sudheendra Kulkarni, met party chief Uddhav Thackeray at Matoshree, here today.

The six Shiv Sena workers, who were on Monday arrested for smearing paint on Kulkarni, had been released on bail on Tuesday.

Kulkarni was attacked for refusing to back down from organising ex-Pakistani minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri's book launch.

Among those arrested were Gajanand Patil, Dinesh Prasad, Ashok Waghmare, Prakash Husbe, Samadhan Jadhav and Venkatesh Nair.

Shiv Sena had been vehemently protesting against Kasuri's book launch saying it would retaliate if the event was not cancelled, and true to their work, the organiser was attacked on the morning of the launch.

The launch of Kasuri's book 'Neither a Hawk nor a Dove', meanwhile took place as scheduled yesterday, with Kulkarni attending the event.
