Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy on Thursday said that the Government of India will focus on skill development, adding that a plan has been initiated for the same.
Speaking at the the plenary session of the Pravasi Bharati Divas, Rudy noted that developed countries have a skilled work force of 60 percent of the population, while in India, that number fell to two percent.
Speaking of the plan initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard, Rudy stated that 6,000 railway stations having 43,000 kilometres of optical fiber network across the country will be used for training the youth for better skills.
He further stated that the selected railway stations will be equipped with the necessary facilities like water, electricity and connectivity and are spread across the country.
The minister also confirmed that the training will be undertaken by master trainers and defence personnel.
