Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Thursday said that the modalities for the implementation of the odd-even number formula will be a big success and claimed that a small sacrifice could lead to huge benefits.

"First off, I would like to say that it is going to be a very big success. People will come to know that if they sacrifice a bit there are going to be huge benefits for them. The whole exercise is for our family, for our children and for ourselves. It has nothing to do with the government. It is everyone's duty to get the pollution under control," Jain told ANI.

"People should be scared of the pollution here. It is like a smoke chamber. I am going to carpool with Arvind ji. There are many factors and there is a need to focus on these factors," he added.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had on Saturday said that the government would discontinue the move after 10 to 15 days if people faced problems.

However, the Delhi high court on Wednesday refused to give interim stay on the AAP government's plan to impose the odd-even number plate formula for the plying of private vehicles from January 1.

A bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath declined the request made by one of the five petitioners that the court should at least grant a stay on the implementation of the government's idea till January 6th, which has been fixed as the next date of hearing on the PILs.

As of January 1st, 2016, the odd and even car number formula will be applied in Delhi on a trial basis for 15 days with an aim to curb pollution in the national capital.
