Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday welcomed the creation of a separate Telangana state, saying the Janata Dal (United) has always been in favour of smaller states.
"My party, the JD (U), has always supported smaller states. There will not be any trouble if more states are formed and the number of states increases. It is our guiding principle that there should be smaller states for better administration. So, we never oppose the formation of new states," he told media here.
The Congress and the UPA yesterday unanimously decided to create Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh.
The Congress Working Committee (CWC) last evening decided to recommend to the Central Government to form Telangana, which will comprise 10 districts.
Hyderabad will be the joint capital of the newly-proposed state and the other regions-Rayalaseema and Andhra-for a period of 10 years.
