The hype encircling around Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson has been played down by South African captain Graeme Smith, as the second Test begins at St. George's Park on Thursday.

According to Sport24, the South African batting line-up was demolished by Johnson in their first Test at Centurion, which was won by Australia with Johnson bowling his career-best match figures of 12 for 127.

Although Smith got dismissed twice in the first Test facing four balls from Johnson, he feels it is important not to get caught up in the hype as every player gets the upper hand someday.

The South African Test captain said that his team will work harder and improve in the areas where they lacked.

Smith also slammed his country's administrators following the announcement that Elgar and fellow Test squad member Thami Tsolekile did not have their central contracts renewed.
