South African Test captain Graeme Smith has reportedly made a comeback to both his side's Test and the one-day teams for the series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates next month.
Along with Smith, Dale Steyn, Imran Tahir, Wayne Parnell and Vernon Philander have all been recalled to the ODI side, with Steyn making a complete recovery from his injury.
According to Sport24, Cricket South Africa (CSA) selection convener Andrew Hudson said that even though Smith has been recalled to the team, the board will be monitoring his progress as they do not want to overload him during the early stages of his return.
Hudson further said that Tahir, Parnell and Philander have been recalled as Tahir and Parnell did well during the Sri Lankan tour, while Parnell and Philander are both good lower-order all-rounders and have the ability to contribute significantly in the batting department.
Stating that CSA has retained the 15-man Test squad, Hudson also said that the squad has impressed them with their depth, results and the manner in which they have put up their hands during the injury-stricken period.
