Smith wants Aussies to thrive under pressure in Caribbean tri-series

Ahead of Australia's crucial game against West Indies, skipper Steve Smith has admitted that he is eager to see his young side handle the pressure when they will take on hosts for a place in the Caribbean tri-series decider.

A victory against the Caribbeans would hand Australia side with a place in the series decider while a defeat at Kensington Oval means the World Cup holders have to head home.

Australia's top order had already been hit by an injury with opener David Warner sidelined from the remainder of the series due to a broken figure.

With Warner's loss, Smith arguably remains the key to Australia reaching next week's final.

The 27-year-old believes that high-stakes games would serve as a learning curve for his young side.

Smith said it is important to put the young players under the high-pressure situations in order to bring the best out of them, news.com.au reported.

The seventh ODI match of the tri-series between Australia and South Africa was abandoned due to an intermittent rain.

Australia will lock horns with West Indies at Kensington Oval on Tuesday.
