Smoking will kill about two million Chinese citizens by 2030 as it states that smoking is a growing epidemic of premature deaths in the country, according to a research which appears in Lancet.
The research says that one out of three young Chinese men will die due to tobacco consumption. As there are fewer Chinese women smokers, there is less possibility of epidemic spreading among females.
The researchers told the Guardian that annual death toll in china will rise from a million in 2010 to two million in 2030. The toll will eventually arise to three million by 2050.
China consumes over one third of total cigarettes in the world.
According to the researchers the amount of deaths sue to smoking among Chinese men aged 40-79 has doubled from about 10 percent in the early 1990s to 20 percent at present.
