E-commerce giant Snapdeal on Friday said it will assist the Food and Drugs Administration team's investigation after the latter ordered an FIR against the CEO of the website for selling prescription drugs online.

"Upon being notified of any such products, we delist the products and take appropriate action against such seller. In this matter, we are assisting FDA team in this investigation, we will continue to do so," said a statement by the company's spokesperson.

"Snapdeal acts as an intermediary between the seller and buyer of the products listed on the platform. We educate sellers on consequences of selling inappropriate products, at times sellers end up listing such products," it added.

"We have already delisted the products and said sellers and also stopped payment, in addition to providing all information to the FDA team as required by them," the statement further said.

A First Information Report (FIR) was ordered against Snapdeal.com CEO Kunal Bahl by Maharashtra's Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) today, for the sale of prescription drugs online. The move came after the FDA raided the premises of Jasper Infotech, which owns Snapdeal, at Goregoan in Mumbai, two weeks ago.
