A Russian military advisor was killed in Syria after a militant sniper opened gunfire at a unit of the Syrian Army, Defense Ministry of Russia said in a report on Tuesday.
"Militants' gunfire at a unit of Syrian troops has claimed the life of Lieutenant Colonel Alexei Buchelnikov. He was delegated to Syria as a member of the group of Russian military advisors," Tass news agency quoted the reports as saying.
Lt. Col. Buchelnikov had been assigned the task of training the Syrian armed personnel.
The militant sniper opened fire at the time when the training of the army personnel was in progress.
