Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and activist lawyer Subramanian Swamy on Monday said that former Delhi law minister had violated the law by terrorizing foreign nationals by taking a group of people to conduct a raid at midnight and added that it was a shameful thing.
"Action should be taken against Bharti as he was a minister at that time, and there is a provision in the constitution which says that a minister cannot directly give directions to the police. he has to complain to the secretary of the department," said Swamy.
"He violated it and took a crowd and terrorized foreign nationals at midnight by conducting a raid. In a country where guests are considered to be gods, such an act is extremely shameful thing and should be investigated," he said.
The NHRC today directed the Delhi Police to take action against Bharti for leading a midnight raid at the residence of African nationals in New Delhi's Khirki Extension.
Activist-lawyer Shehzad Poonawala had petitioned against AAP leader Bharti in connection with the case.
A judicial probe had already indicted former Delhi law minister for his action.
