Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid on Thursday alleged that there are some people, who have serious reservations about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's politics and his past.
"There are lot of people who have strong opinion about the Prime Minister, some people support him very strongly while some have serious reservations about his politics and particularly about his past," Khurshid told ANI here while commenting on Jama Masjid's Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari's decision to not invite Prime Minister Modi for his son's anointment ceremony.
"I don't think that this should be linked in any way with the neighboring country. If they want to associate with or not associate with the Prime Minister or his party it's really their choice," he added while commenting on the Shahi Imam's invitation to Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Bukhari, who recently named his 19-year-old son Shaban Bukhari as his successor, has sent out invitations to several Indian and foreign political leaders and to nearly 1,000 religious leaders from across the world for the ceremony scheduled for November 22.
However, he refrained from inviting Prime Minister Modi for the same.
The Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid has also invited several central ministers including Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan.
Bukhari has been holding the post since 2000.
