Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of dividing the country in the name of caste, creed, religion and language.
"When Jawaharlal Nehru was laying the foundation of Modern India, they were just five to six years old. They do not promote secularity. Do not fall for people who divide in the name of caste, creed, religion and language," said Gandhi, while addressing a rally in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
"They only want power and nothing else. You have already seen the extent to which the Shiv Sena and the BJP lie. Those who spread hatred and engage in divisive politics can never be in favor of Maharashtra. Do not fall into their trap," she warned.
The Congress President further said that both the BJP and the Shiv Sena were untrustworthy.
"BJP and Shiv Sena are criticizing each other; I want to alert you about those who will join hands with people who were with us till yesterday. First, they talk of going to the moon, and then, they end up saying it is not possible doing it alone," said Gandhi.
"We do not need to show proof of our work to anyone. Congress has always put public interest on top priority, so, I request you to give each one of your votes to the Congress on 15th October," she said.
