Sonia exhorts Indians to protect basic principles of Indianness

On the occasion of 71st Independence Day, Congress President Sonia Gandhi exhorted Indians to protect the basic principles of Indianness.

She also appealed the countrymen to fight against evils like terrorism, separatism, and hatred.

In her message, Sonia said, "I pray that this nation must always progress and move forward and we all feel proud being an independent Indian... My best wishes to you all that this 71th year will bring prosperity and happiness to all of you and will be in good health and will get immense opportunities for growth and progress."

She unfurled the tri-colour at the All India Congress Committee headquarters on Akbar Road on the occasion of 71st Independence Day. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and senior party leaders were present on the occasion.
