ANI New Delhi [India]

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Sunday condemned the twin blasts in Istanbul and called it an unacceptable act of terror against innocent citizens.

"Calling it an act of terror against innocent citizens, she said our heart goes out to those who have lost their family members," read a tweet posted on the official Twitter handle of the Indian National Congress.

"It is one that is particularly painful for the people of Turkey, who have faced series of attacks from militants and terrorists this year," the tweet read.

Turkey has declared a one-day morning after twin blasts ripped through the heart of Istanbul killing 29 people and wounding 166 others.

The first bomb went off just outside the facility known popularly as Besiktas Stadium. The second blast that came moments later was attributed by authorities to a suicide bomber.
