Congress president Sonia Gandhi has decided not to celebrate her 68th birthday on December 9 this year in view of the recent tragic Naxal attack in Jammu and Kashmir and Chhattisgarh, and in solidarity with the martyred army and police Personnel.
Sonia has also asked the Congress persons to follow her instruction.
Jammu and Kashmir, which is in the midst of its five-phase state assembly elections, faced four terror attacks last week, which were aimed at undermining the democratic process.
Earlier on December 1, the Maoists killed 14 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district.
