Congress Party president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi arrived in Jammu on Tuesday to meet the flood victims from the Jammu region and the relatives of the people who had died in the Nowshera bus accident.
They were accompanied by senior Congress Party leaders Ambika Soni, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Saifuddin Soz.
A bus accident in Nowshera region of Rajouri district had claimed 66 lives when a passenger bus carrying a marriage party was washed away in the flash floods triggered due to incessant rain on September 4.
They also met the flood victims from around Jammu region and distributed relief material to them.
Earlier on Monday, the mother-son duo went to Anatnag for a two-day visit to the flood-affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir. They inspected a rehabilitation camp and mingled with the local people.
Earlier this month, incessant rains had resulted in landslides, flash floods and rising of water level in all the rivers of Jammu and Kashmir which claimed scores of lives and destroyed property worth thousands of crores.
