Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Sarbananda Sonowal has said all schemes of his ministry are gender neutral, inclusive and are equally applicable to women sportspersons.
In a written reply given to the Lok Sabha, he said an incentive in the form of cash awards under the scheme of 'Special Awards to Medal Winners in Sports Events and their Coaches' is given to medal winners including women medal winners and their coaches including women coaches in international events for the sports disciplines included in Olympic Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and chess.
Sonowal said, sports events, both national and international, are organised by the concerned National Sports Federations. Venue of sports events is decided by the concerned National Sports Federations.
