Sony Pictures will adapt Broadway's 'Beautiful
Douglas McGrath, who wrote the book for the hit production, will be adapting it, with original stage producer Paul Blake sharing production credit with Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman's Playtone, Deadline.com reported.
The jukebox-musical-cum-biographical-play tells the story of King's early life and career, through a combination of flashbacks and renditions of popular songs from the era. The show set several house records at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre and earned back its production costs after about 10 months.
