The original copy of the very first Superman comic, Action Comics #1, will soon go under the hammer at eBay and it could easily acquire close to 3 million dollars.
The copy was published in June 1938 and was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, depicting the tale of mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent who used his incredible powers to fight crime under the guise of Superman, CNet reported.
The issue of Action Comics #1 to be auctioned by eBay received a grade of 9.0 from the Certified Guaranty Company, the highest grade ever assigned to an Action Comics #1 issue by CGC and a sign that the 76-year-old comic was still in top condition.
Paul Litch, CGC Primary Grader, said in a statement that the quality and preservation of the copy was astounding, it looked like as if it just came off the newsstand, as it was supple, the colors were deep and rich and the quality of the white pages was amazing for a comic that was 76 years old.
The issue itself would be auctioned by collectibles dealer Darren Adams starting August 14 and part of the proceeds of the auction would go towards the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.
