The President of South Korea Park Gyun-hye would be visiting India on January 15 on a four day state visit to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
During her visit, President Park will have delegation level talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
"The Vice President, the External Affairs Minister and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha are scheduled to call on the visiting dignitary. She is coming with a delegation which also includes three other ministers- the Foreign Minister, Minister for Science ICT and Future Planning, and the Minister for Trade and Industry. She will meet President Pranab Mukherjee. He will host a banquet in her honour," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin told media here today.
President Park is also likely to interact with Indian business leaders organized by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Akbaruddin further said that India and Korea have a very robust economic relationship, and added that Republic of Korea is a major investment partner in India.
"Our trade in 2012 is approximately a little over 18 billion dollars. There are approximately 300 Korean companies who are functioning here in India. Indian companies too have a presence in Korea," he said.
"We hope that the visit of President of Korea will pave the way for expansion of our friendship and strategic partnership as well as set the stage for future growth in the relationship between India and Republic of Korea," he added.
