A group of women peace activists in civil war-torn South Sudan have suggested that women deny sex to their husbands until they stopped fighting.
According to News 24, some 90 women, including several members of South Sudan's parliament, met in the capital Juba this week to come up with ideas on how to "to advance the cause of peace, healing and reconciliation".
The organizers said in a statement on Thursday that the women came up with the suggestion to mobilise all women in South Sudan to deny their husbands conjugal rights until they ensure that peace returns.
In an attempt to put an end to the age-old war, the women also suggested other ideas, which included figuring ways to meet the wives of President Salva Kiir and his arch-rival, rebel chief Riek Machar, and "ask them to join the search for peace and reconciliation by impressing upon their husbands to stop the war," the report said.
Thousands have perished and nearly two million people have fled the ongoing conflict between government troops and tribal militia forces in South Sudan.
