SpaceX has successfully launched its sixth cargo mission to the International Space Station recently but failed in another attempt to land the spent first stage of its Falcon 9 rocket on a ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
US firm have failed in its third attempt to retrieve a booster rocket intact, after a successful launch, the BBC reported.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk tweeted, that the rocket made it back to an ocean platform but landed "too hard" to survive.
The capsule borne by the rocket is heading to the International Space Station (ISS), carrying groceries - including an Italian espresso maker.
By retrieving rockets and recycling them, Nasa contractor SpaceX hoped to slash the cost of space travel.
