Spanish cyclist Eloy Teruel was left reportedly embarrassed after he thought he had won a stage of the Tour of California and celebrated the win a lap too early.
Teruel thought that he had crossed what he considered was the finish line of the Tour's seventh stage, shouting and pumping his fists
However, the Spaniard soon realised his mistake after other riders sped past him and fans in the crowd urged him to continue, Metro.co.uk reported.
Teruel finished at the 56th position in the race, while Slovakian cyclist Peter Sagan won the stage, the report added.
