The Spanish football federation (RFEF) has announced that it is suspending all domestic competition 'indefinitely' from 16 May over a tussle with the government on issues, including a new law for TV rights.
The federation said in a statement that although it was unhappy with receiving only 4.55 percent of pools revenue, it was still open to dialogue with the Spanish government, the BBC reported.
Barcelona are leading La Liga rivals Real Madrid by two points in the country's top division league, with only three games left to play.
The statement added that more than 600,000 players and 30,000 matches across the country would be affected by the suspension.
The law on collective bargaining for TV rights, which is intended to regulate the rights to broadcast matches in Spain's first and second divisions, hasn't been approved by parliament yet.
