ANI Patiala, (Punjab)

A deaf kid from Patiala, Punjab, is keen on playing tennis.

She has participated in many National and International championships and won many titles.

The girl has, however, not received any support from the Punjab Government or the Sports Authority of India.

Her parents, Avinash Gupta and Madhu Gupta, have to look after all her expenses. They approached the Government of Punjab and Sports Authority of India but have not received any aid so far.

The girl's mother Madhu Gupta is currently working as a teacher in a government school and her father Avinash Gupta is working in the electricity board.

Every month they have to spend around Rs. 40-45 thousand for her training.

Parul wants to participate in the World Deaf Tennis Championship, which will be held in U.K. from July 20-28. The estimated expenditure will be around Rs. five lakh.

Parul is the only child from Punjab who will be participating in this championship.

The Punjab Government had earlier stated that they would do anything to promote girls in getting a better place in the society, but they have been unsupportive in case of this special child Parul.

"If Parul would have taken birth in some other state then she would have received help from the other state government and she would have even got sponsors," said her father.

Parul is currently getting her training in tennis and according to her coach she has the passion to win the championship and for that she is working very hard from morning to evening,

"If the Government of Punjab helps her then she would definitely win the championship and will make Punjab proud," he said.
